Metamorphoses
In this first example, we have the theme for King Midas. Bass clarinet, harp, and drum machine. It's meant to give the impression of a regal bearing, a man who is used to getting things done his way. The sequence that follows it takes place when Midas first receives his terrible power. The faster theme represents his giddiness, until the end, when we hear the dramatic upturn that reflects Midas's daughter turning to gold after running into his arms despite his protest.
